Blumar enters the business of salmon farming in 2006 as part of the new strategy to diversify into aquaculture. All farms are located in the South of Chile, in XI Region.

Blumar keeps an agreement for dedicated production of practically 100% of its smolt with a hatchery located next to the sea. It has been especially designed to comply with the most strict sanitary and biosecurity standards, in order to achieve:

The farms are strategically located in Chile’s XI region, in one of the least contaminated and purest zones for salmon farming today. Each farm is monitored and controlled through a powerful remote system, providing online information to the headquarters in Puerto Montt.
The farms have the most modern infrastructure in automatic systems to provide efficient operation which is also responsible with the environment. The use of high technology in sea farming is supported by a team of well experienced people. Special care has been taken to select the feeding equipment and food to guarantee fish welfare, efficiency, sustainability and, most importantly, a good quality product for the consumers.

Once the salmon is ready to be harvested is transported on board modern wellboats from the farms, first to the slaughter plant and then to the processing plant.
The plant processes the raw material under the strictest hygienic control. Each plant has received HACCP, ISO 9001:2000, as well as other international certifications, allowing to export the products to any part in the world. They are also equipped with advanced technology to elaborate a wide range of products, both fresh and frozen, such as: head-on, H&G, fillets, portions, blocks and many others especially developed for the clients’ needs.
